Position Summary: The Marketing Manager, Live Events and Hospitality oversees marketing strategy and execution for our live performances at Interlochen as well as our  on-campus lodging initiatives.  Reporting to the Director of Marketing, this position coordinates closely with members of our Presents and Hospitality teams to create multi-channel marketing campaigns with a focus on developing new audiences, engaging patrons, managing key partners, and driving revenue growth for two successful Interlochen revenue streams. This position works some evening and weekend hours for event support and coverage as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and oversee the execution of a strategic season marketing plan for Interlochen Arts Festival and Arts Academy performances

  • Develop strategy, book placements, and verify runs for multi-media advertising plans
  • Manage digital advertising campaigns across paid search and social media networks
  • Write and edit effective copy for a variety of marketing materials; including but not limited to website, ad creative, email marketing, landing pages, and brochures
  • Develop and test strategies to connect with new audiences – new movers, young professionals, etc. – and lead audience development efforts for key areas of programming such as classical music 
  • Work with a team of senior leaders at Interlochen to help vet potential artists for our summer season

Serve as Interlochen’s marketing contact for artist management and tour marketing teams

  • Develop event-specific marketing plans
  • Confirm announcement and on sale timelines
  • Manage additional promotional plans and press opportunities including photo/media releases 

Manage relationships with regional media and tourism partners on behalf of Interlochen

  • Partner with local and regional media organizations to secure media sponsor/ trade agreements
  • Partner with regional media to broaden awareness of major institutional events to deepen relationships with the region
  • Manage on-site visits of regional media supporting day-of-show concert promotions
  • Liaise with regional tourism and local businesses to develop potential cross-promotions, bundling opportunities, and market intelligence

 

Drive occupancy and revenue goals for Interlochen Hospitality

  • Develop and promote bundle and/or discount packages between live events and lodging
  • Increase visibility of Interlochen Hospitality offerings within the regional tourism market

Other Duties as assigned

Work Environment:

Work is performed at various sites throughout the campus environment with extensive internal and external stakeholder contact.

Required Skills and Experience:

Education: Bachelor’s degree (preferably in marketing, communications, or related field) and a minimum of five years professional experience required

Experience:

Experience in concert, event, or hospitality marketing, as well as new audience development, is a plus 
Demonstrated success in partnering with program managers and internal/external partners to deliver effective marketing campaigns
Strong collaborator with excellent interpersonal skills, who works well with external vendors and contacts 
This role requires an individual who can make data-driven decisions, solve problems, and successfully manage numerous projects simultaneously

Equipment Familiarity:  

Experience working in Google Analytics, digital advertising platforms, Photoshop, Canva, project management systems, and content management systems (Drupal, Hubspot, and Salesforce) are all a plus
 

Certifications, Licenses or Special Training

  • Must meet and maintain background screening requirements as detailed in policy 12.HR.01 Pre-Employment and
  • Employee Background Checks.
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets the eligibility requirements of ICA’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Strong understanding of and experience with digital marketing and email marketing
  • Strong marketing copywriting skills and keen eye for detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to appear on air or on camera to promote events
